Recently my six months old baby was taken serously ill and had to be admitted in hospital. after examination, it was established that he required an operation. the procedure was carried out but what followed was the most traumatizing experience in my parenting life. in short he was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit(ICU) for six days, had respiratory cardiac arrests twice and many other terrible things........ Since he had been admitted in a relatively expensive hospital, the medical bill kept on shooting up. Lucky for me I had taken up medical insurance and had contributed for only two months. Apart from clearing the huge medical bill, they visited and gave us a get well note that went a long way in raising our low spirits. The boy is quite ok now.
Thanks to the medical insurance cover, payment of the medical bill was not our principal concern and our energies were focussed on our sons wellness.
I would like to encourage the youth especially in Kenya that if you do not have any medical cover for yourself or your family (if you have any), serously consider getting one. At a time when several youth are trying hard to break even financially, things like medical bills can take your efforts several years back. You may not have been affected yet but you never know when it may come... if it does comes let it find you ready.
So come on Get your Insurance, it is really necessary. I had never thought it necessary until it rescued me.
